Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Game Rules
Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, like Omaha Hi/Lo, is also a split version but just of Seven Card Stud. It shares almost the same set of game rules with Seven Card Stud. It is just that there can be two winners, one for the best five card high hand and one for the best five card low hand. Pot can be split between two winners.
However, like in Omaha Hi/Lo, in Seven Card Stud there isn’t always a winner for the best five card low hand. And in case there is indeed no winner for the best five card low hand, winner for the best five card high hand would be entitled to enjoy the whole pot.
Well it is actually a bit hard to qualify for the low hand and even be the winner for the best five card low hand. Nonetheless, the hand must only contain 8 or lower and must not have pair or better.
But on the good side, the process of forming the best five card low hand is not complex. There are seven cards from which the best five card low hand can be made. Three out from the seven cards are dealt facing down and four from the seven cards are dealt facing up. But there is freedom to choose which among the cards to use. For example, mixing up cards dealt facing down and cards dealt facing up gives a set of A-2-4-5-6-7-8, A-2-4-5-6 can be used to make the five card low hand which hopefully is the best.
Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo is played like Seven Card Stud. There isn’t much of a difference between the game rules for Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo and those for Seven Card Stud.
