Game rules for Seven Card Stud are a little bit different from the game rules for Texas Holdem, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo which we have discussed in our previous articles. With game rules for Seven Card Stud, there are antes involved and just a total of seven cards from which best five card high hand can be created.

Game rules for Seven Card Stud go as follows:

So to start the game, a starting pot must be made. Most likely, each player must post a mandatory bet, an ante. An ante is typically 10% of the small bet. Then game is started and three cards must be dealt to each player. Two from the three cards must be dealt facing down and one must be dealt facing up.

After the four cards are dealt to each player, first betting round must take place beginning with the player with the lowest facing up card by suit. The first player to act must place a bring in or a bet however has the choice of placing a small or a half-size one. In case a half-size one is placed, following players can call such or raise to a full one. They can also fold, only if they wish to.

Then after the first betting round, another card must be dealt to each player facing up. It is the fourth card to be dealt and known as the fourth street.

Subsequently, second betting round must take place but now beginning with the player with the best cards facing up.

Then after the second betting round, another card must be dealt to each player facing up. It is the fifth card to be dealt and known as the fifth street.

After which, third betting round must take place but at this point beginning with the player with the best three card hand.

Then after the third betting round, another card must be dealt to each player facing up. It is the sixth card to be dealt and known as the sixth street.

Next, the fourth betting round must take place but now beginning with the player with the best four card hand.

Then after the third betting round, another card must be dealt to each player but facing down. It is the seventh and last card to be dealt and known as the seventh street.

Afterwards, the fifth and last betting round must take place but again beginning with the player with the best four card hand. This time, if more than one player remains in the hand, showdown must take place.

Nevertheless, player with the best five card high hand wins.
